Daichi Matsuoka (京都・日本)

90年代半ばよりライブPAエンジニア、DJ活動を開始。90年代から日本のレイヴシーンで活躍する京都のジャムバンド「SOFT」に参加し、2枚のアルバム制作に参加。

2007年、marronと新バンド “Based On Kyoto “を結成。12インチとLPを4枚リリース。SINKICHIとのSLOW AIR名義でも活躍。BBCラジオ「WORLDWIDE」(ジャイルス・ピーターソン)で数週間にわたって放送された。また、Mix Master morris、Theo Parrish、Larry Heard、Derrick May、Carl Craigなど多くのアーティストのサポートとしても活躍している。

2017年より京都木屋町にてイベントスペースDNA PARADISEを運営。
Based On Kyoto、Mo-Waii名義等でアナログ、CD作品をリリースする傍らCHURASHIMA NAVIGATOR 、AQATUKI等のバンドのリミックス、宮崎のhouの楽曲プロデュースなども手掛ける。

近年は’12より毎年恒例となっている東南アジアツアーを経て、アジア人のアイデンティティに重きを置いた音楽表現を展開している。

Daichi Matsuoka (Kyoto・Japan)

He started working as a live PA engineer and DJ in the mid-1990s, participating in the Kyoto jam band “SOFT”, which has been active in the Japanese rave scene since the 1990s, and participating in the production of two albums.

In 2007, he formed a new band with marron, “Based On Kyoto”, which released 12″ and 4 LPs, also under the name SLOW AIR with SINKICHI, which was broadcasted for several weeks on BBC Radio’s “WORLDWIDE” (Gilles Peterson). He has also supported many artists such as Mix Master Morris, Theo Parrish, Larry Heard, Derrick May, Carl Craig and many others.

Since 2017, he has managed the event space DNA PARADISE in Kiyamachi, Kyoto.
Besides releasing analog and CD works under the name of “Based On Kyoto” and “Mo-Waii”, he has also produced remixes of bands such as CHURASHIMA NAVIGATOR and AQATUKI, as well as music for Miyazaki’s hou.

In recent years, he has been developing his musical expression with an emphasis on Asian identity through his annual tour in Southeast Asia since 2012.
